BENEFITING AINA ALLIANCE
RACER RESULTS AT THE BOTTOM
Mountain Bike Racing is back on the East Side of Kauai. MTB Kauai has revived the Anahola trails for a new era.
MTB Kauai has partnered with Aina Alliance to bring organized racing back to Anahola. This isn’t just a race; it’s a celebration of our Aina and a commitment to stewardship.
We are running a competitive event with distinct categories for Analog and E-Bike competitors. Adults expect a 8 or 15-mile course that tests your lungs, your tech skills, and your grit. The race is sponsored by MTB Kauai but is open to anyone. Registration will be capped to ensure the best possible racer experience and is open to the public. MTB Kauai members are guaranteed a spot, in addition to reduced registration fees.

ʻĀina ALLIANCE STATEMENT
ʻĀina Alliance is grateful to be the beneficiary nonprofit of the upcoming Anahola Epic mountain bike race and appreciates the care and coordination the organizers have put into planning a permitted, well-managed event.
We want to share an important safety perspective with the public. The areas used for this race include rugged terrain, steep slopes, and remote sections where injuries could be serious and emergency response may be delayed or limited. For this reason, access during the race is limited to registered participants only and supported by a coordinated safety and logistics plan.
Outside of this organized event, these trails are not open for public riding. This is not about restriction, but about concern for safety — both for individuals and for first responders who may have difficulty reaching injured riders in these areas.
Proceeds from the race directly support ʻĀina Alliance’s land stewardship and risk-reduction work in Anahola, including wildfire mitigation, erosion control, access planning, and other efforts that help make these areas safer over time.
As a small, community-based nonprofit, ʻĀina Alliance does not currently have regular staff dedicated to managing public access or recreational use. Because of this, we deeply value partnerships with organizations like MTB Kauaʻi, who are able to responsibly manage their own activities, carry appropriate insurance and liability coverage, and operate in alignment with shared safety and stewardship goals.
The best way for people to get involved is by supporting or working through established organizations and events that have the capacity to self-manage responsibly. This approach helps protect people, the land, and the surrounding community while allowing us to focus our limited resources on long-term resilience and care for the ʻāina.
